UNRWA Definition and Mandate
– UNRWA’s definition of refugee covers individuals who resided in Palestine from 1 June 1946 to 15 May 1948 and those displaced by the 1967 Six-Day War.
– UNRWA’s mandate is shaped by resolutions of the General Assembly and requests from other UN organs.
– The mandate is extended every three years, with the most recent extension until 30 June 2023.
– UNRWA is led by a Commissioner-General who manages all activities and personnel and reports to the General Assembly.

UNRWA Operations and Staff
