Key retainer

Applications
– Janitorial or custodial staff
– Irregular or temporary users
– Guests
– Other authorized users
– Require access to a certain key not issued directly

Operation
– One key (High Level/Special) retained in a core (at 1/4 turn)
– Another release key inserted in the other core and rotated 90° (1/4 turn)
– Retained key can be removed for use
– Release key held (trapped) for visual accountability purposes
– Cycle repeated in reverse when normally retained key is returned

Padlocks
– Key retainer can refer to a padlock
– Key cannot be removed when shackle is open
– Prevents accidentally leaving padlock unlocked
– Prevents accidentally locking key inside a locker, shed, etc.
