An electronic lock is a locking device that operates by means of electric current. It is usually connected to an access control system. The electric current is used to enable the lock to open when a valid code, key, or card is presented to it. Types of electronic locks include magnetic locks, keypads, RFID readers, biometric locks, and smart locks.
